one-off Wednesday

Sometimes, for me, most often with vintage, an item’s purest and strongest appeal is that you know you will never see anyone else rocking it. Full stop.

Other times there’s a perfect item that exists clearly in your mind but that you simply can’t find – something with so much flavor that it flat out does not exist. The Sidd Finch of fashion items, if you will.

When such a situation arises, the only answer is a little DIY. In the mode of Dapper Dan, whose handmade one-off fashions graced the illest of 80s MCs and drug kingpins (and Mike Tyson) alike, sometimes you just have to create. Sometimes you need something so much that you just have to will it into existence.

So periodically I’ll post something I have either copped that I am almost certain is a one of a kind item, and/or stuff I cooked up myself when the market simply wasn’t supplying it. Either way providing an automatic dose of a key, and often elusive,  element of flavor: uniqueness.

Ergo: One-of-a-Kind Wednesday

First up, in honor of the fleeting, hopefully, ashen grasp of winter, and hope for warmer days ahead: a bubble gum pink (a bit of a recurring theme, along with camo, you will see) Carhartt beanie. Love me that pank.
